We live in Oregon, not too hot, but there are one or two months in summer, where the oppressive heat and humidity of the house. I wanted a window, cheap small, A / C for added comfort. I wanted something small enough that you can store more than 10 months. So, after much research I ordered this model. I was going to be the model 6K BTU with electronic controls, but I thought I could get something super cheap and if I could use the work as a simple refrigerator. Sent free of charge making this a very good deal. He came in a week. Installation was easy, following the instructions in the manual. I had to install and remove the A / C of about 3 times to get all the stamps right. In the box, there are a number of different thicknesses of foam and foam tape. There are no specific instructions on what to do with this, apart from stuff for the top of the upper wing, so I experimented with different combinations to get a good seal. We have the latest vinyl windows with screens, but no storm, so the device basically fell right in. But there are some holes around the bottom of this configuration. I put them in the thickest foam with the unit. This did the trick, but did not look too big. Luckly I ordered extra foam tape as another reviewer recommended, and I used small pieces of it to seal around the inside and out, making big foam inside. It looks actually quite nice and professional. $ 4 well spent: Anyway), the unit is installed in our living room. We are in a box 1940's bungalow, so this room is about half the width and length of the house. The bedrooms and kitchen connect. With the cold HI / Max (7) the whole house was very cold and large amounts of water extracted. We'll see how it behaves next week of 95 + Time We keep about $ 10 box fans to circulate air so you can move around in the cold air around. One thing is that I heard on some other models is that the assumptions of fans to move and breathe. This is a feature not a bug;). The unit is designed to back up a bit ', if properly installed. The moisture collects on the bottom removed from the room. The blades are covered with rubber and is designed to draw water and spray on the evaporator coils. This makes a certain pre-cooling of outside air. Greatly increases efficiency. I do not want drainage holes, as others have said. Summary: $ 100, and my house is cold and calm. You can not say much more. If this is not enough for the hottest day I could get and move to another room. It 'very quiet on the bottom, but I like the white noise .. I hope it lasts, although I would gladly pay another $ 100 in 2 years. 120 of 126 people found this review helpful rises above Expactations with a tree, I was hoping that would keep my apartment cool-ER. I expected him to keep him calm, not cold. I also had a small "a problem of size. The only window that pops up in my house is a vertical sliding window that I can afford air conditioning is not intended. When I received, I began to assemble and install . Originally, I leave extensions, because my window was only 18 inches long, but after I understood and thought more, I realized I could still help to maintain support. So I put them on. It's about an inch inside of the window to help her fall. Also, I was hoping to buy some "of wood and put it over, but when I saw how hard it was only with the extensions, I put the cardboard and plastic tape along the edges with tape . Very red throat, I know. And 'sealed with the help of some other bits that came with to seal it.
