Cools Great and is Quiet By curly This is my 3rd Sharp window AC and (just like the first two) it does a great job cooling & (most importantly) it's quiet. I previously bought 12k & 8k LG window units from Home Depot because of the cheap price & 5 year warranty. They both cool very well but are noisy. The 12k LG has to be turned off if you wanna' enjoy a movie that has a lot of talking. The 8k LG is so loud you can't sleep in a room where it's running (sounds like a helicopter at low rpm). I attempted to have it repaired under warranty, but the repair shop says it's operating "normally". So the LG is going to the dump (even though it's new) and the new Sharp is in my bedroom & now I get a good night's sleep. One nice feature the Sharp AF-Q60RX has that my old Sharps don't is "Auto Cool". In this mode the fan speed slows down after getting to set temp. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not very quiet By L. Ronald Evans I also purchased this air conditioner and even though I think it cools quite well I have to disagree that it is quiet. The name implies that it is but I find it very noisy even on LOW fan. I had to move my bed to the other side of the room and I now wear earplugs at night.
