I have a 3500 square foot home in Central Florida and the top line of Central Air heat pump just installed a few years ago. All works perfectly except one thing: I have the whole house cool with him and Watts in 4500 in the case of off my 6500 watt diesel generator is only run when lights are 1100 watt refrigerator and at the same time. There was a strange smell the first two times that we have on - the smell of plastic would be the best way to describe it. After about one week, my husband called (909) 468-5288 and one message (not callback) Later that day he called (800) 330-0388 and spoke with a woman who told me that as long as it was blowing cold air was a freon leak. She said the odor can be attributed to the Styrofoam container in the machine. We assumed that the odd smoke, because it was new. We used it maybe four or five times for 3 hours at a time. Well today is 7/6/10, and it hit 100 degrees outside, it is no longer an odor, but it is no longer a cold air blowing out of the machine. I received an e-mail Sunpentown through the Amazon website. I want everything in writing on how this £ 80 piece of shit back to them. The financial burden would not post this item for only 25 days. I will update with their response.
