I have a townhouse in the city and I'm just refreshing my floor (600 sq ft) unit has a cooling effect is horrible. 18,000 BTU, it must be freezing here. It has been running high ... (66 degrees and the fan on high), yet the only room that feels cold is the room that is installed in the other room only cools to 78 degrees and can not seem to get any cooler. We had a Maytag 18,000 BTU before, and was 10 times better. Now I have this device installed in the wall behind me, and I have to take it out and go back to the store. By thoroughly impressive Nizdobs After 10 years service my 18,000 BTU GE QuietAire machine gave up the ghost. This is a terrible summer in the Northeast, I had trouble finding someone with a large window-mounted unit. I found only one large window unit in the whole area, so I bought it. Installation was a pain, but we get through. My biggest gripe is that the device seems to have very little cooling effect. The old GE would cool the entire first floor very quickly. This unit ran high for several hours and finally the field to 75 degrees. And the device is more noise than GE. Not only that, it is difficult in the same room with the unit, but GE silence. I do not think I have to return the unit because I needed to go through the rest of the summer, but I have a sinking feeling that I will be pleased with this unit.
